Two examples

Example 1

25 =
  1. The exponent, 5, counts how many 2s are multiplied: 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2.
  2. Not 2 × 5.

Answer: 32

Example 2

7 × 7 × 7 = 7?
  1. Three 7s are multiplied, so the exponent is 3.

Answer: 3
