Two examples
Example 1
A circle has a radius of 4 feet. Use 3.14 for π. What is its area?
- A = πr2 = 3.14 × 16.
Answer: 50.24 square feet
Example 2
A circle has a diameter of 10 feet. Use 3.14. What is its area?
- The radius is half the diameter: 5.
- 3.14 × 25 = 78.5.
Answer: 78.5 square feet
