Two examples

Example 1

A right triangle has legs of 6 and 8. What is the hypotenuse?
  1. c2 = 62 + 82 = 36 + 64 = 100.
  2. c = √100.

Answer: 10

Example 2

A right triangle has legs of 4 and 7. What is the hypotenuse, to the nearest tenth?
  1. 16 + 49 = 65.
  2. √65 ≈ 8.06, which rounds to 8.1.

Answer: 8.1
