Two examples
Example 1
- What does the pronoun point back to? The company: one company, a thing.
- One thing takes it and its. Its shows belonging, with no apostrophe.
Answer: The company changed its rules.
Example 2
- The pronoun points back to the workers, more than one.
- More than one takes they, them, their.
Answer: The workers put their boots by the door.
