Two examples

Example 1

Multiply out: 4(2x − 3)
  1. Multiply 4 by each term inside: 4 × 2x = 8x, and 4 × (−3) = −12.

Answer: 8x − 12

Example 2

Multiply out: 5(x + 6)
  1. 5 × x = 5x, and 5 × 6 = 30.

Answer: 5x + 30
