Worked examples

Two examples

Example 1

A line passes through the marked points (1, 2) and (3, 6). What is its slope?
  1. From the left point to the right one, the line goes up 4 (the rise) and right 2 (the run).
  2. Slope = rise ÷ run = 4 ÷ 2.

Answer: 2

Example 2

This drill also has challenge problems. They use the same skill, set up the way the GED test sometimes sets up a problem, so that it looks new at first.

How many:

Type each slope. A fraction like -2/3 is fine. Then press Check my answers at the bottom.Write each answer on the line. The answer key, with the reasoning, is on the last page.
