Worked examples

Two examples

Example 1

Write the equation of the line with slope 3 and y-intercept −2.
  1. Put the slope in place of m and the y-intercept in place of b in y = mx + b.

Answer: y = 3x − 2

Example 2

Write the equation of the line with slope 12 and y-intercept 4.
  1. m = 12, b = 4.

Answer: y = 12x + 4
