Example 1

−3 + 4 × (−2) =
  1. Multiply before adding: 4 × (−2) = −8.
  2. Then −3 + (−8) = −11.

Answer: −11

Example 2

(−6 − 2) × (−3) =
  1. Parentheses first: −6 − 2 = −6 + (−2) = −8.
  2. Then (−8) × (−3) = 24.

Answer: 24
