1 12 × 2 13 =
  1. Make each one improper: 1 12 = 32, and 2 13 = 73.
  2. Multiply across: 216 = 72.

Answer: 3 12

Example 2

2 34 × 4 =
  1. Make it improper: 2 34 = 114. And 4 = 41.
  2. Multiply across: 444 = 11.

Answer: 11
