Two examples

Example 1

A cylinder has a radius of 3 ft and a height of 10 ft. Use 3.14. What is its volume?
  1. V = πr2h = 3.14 × 9 × 10.

Answer: 282.6 cubic feet

Example 2

A can has a radius of 2 in and a height of 5 in. Use 3.14. What is its volume?
  1. 3.14 × 4 × 5.

Answer: 62.8 cubic inches
