Example 1

Points on a scatter plot rise from left to right. What kind of correlation?
  1. As one quantity goes up, so does the other.

Answer: Positive

Example 2

Points fall from left to right. What kind of correlation?
  1. As one goes up, the other goes down.

Answer: Negative
