Two examples

Example 1

Multiply out: 2x(3x − 5)
  1. Multiply 2x by each term: 2x × 3x = 6x2, and 2x × (−5) = −10x.

Answer: 6x2 − 10x

Example 2

Multiply out: x2(x + 4)
  1. x2 × x = x3, and x2 × 4 = 4x2.

Answer: x3 + 4x2
