Two examples

Example 1

Where is the point (−4, 7)?
  1. x is negative (left) and y is positive (up).
  2. The quadrants are numbered counterclockwise from the upper right: I, II, III, IV.

Answer: Quadrant II

Example 2

Where is the point (0, −3)?
  1. x is 0, so the point is on the y-axis, not in a quadrant.
