Example 1

Simplify: 1824
  1. The greatest number that goes into both 18 and 24 is 6.
  2. Divide the top and the bottom by 6: 18 ÷ 6 = 3 and 24 ÷ 6 = 4.

Answer: 34

Example 2

Simplify: 3550
  1. The greatest number that goes into both is 5.
  2. 35 ÷ 5 = 7 and 50 ÷ 5 = 10.

Answer: 710
