Worked examples

Two examples

Example 1

Fill in the sign: 0.5 ___ 0.45
  1. Write zeros so both have two places: 0.50 and 0.45.
  2. Compare like whole numbers: 50 is more than 45.

Answer: 0.5 > 0.45

Example 2

Put in order, least to greatest: 2.1, 2.08, 2.15, 2.009
  1. Write them all with three places: 2.100, 2.080, 2.150, 2.009.
  2. Compare like whole numbers.

Answer: 2.009, 2.08, 2.1, 2.15
