Example 1
2.4 × 0.3 =
- Multiply without the points: 24 × 3 = 72.
- Count the decimal places: 1 + 1 = 2. Put the point 2 places from the right.
Answer: 0.72
Example 2
0.06 × 0.7 =
- 6 × 7 = 42.
- Decimal places: 2 + 1 = 3. 42 has only two digits, so write a zero in front: 0.042.
Answer: 0.042
