Example 1

3.75 × 100 =
  1. Multiplying by 100 moves the point 2 places to the right.

Answer: 375

Example 2

4.2 ÷ 1,000 =
  1. Dividing by 1,000 moves the point 3 places to the left.
  2. Write zeros in front to fill the places: 0.0042.

Answer: 0.0042
