Example 1

7.2 ÷ 4 =
  1. Divide as with whole numbers: 72 ÷ 4 = 18.
  2. Put the point straight above the point in 7.2. Check: 1.8 × 4 = 7.2.

Answer: 1.8

Example 2

0.84 ÷ 7 =
  1. 84 ÷ 7 = 12.
  2. The point goes straight above: 0.12. Check: 0.12 × 7 = 0.84.

Answer: 0.12
