Two examples

Example 1

15 is 30% of what number?
  1. Divide the part by the percent as a decimal: 15 ÷ 0.3 = 50.
  2. Check: 30% of 50 is 15.

Answer: 50

Example 2

42 is 60% of what number?
  1. 42 ÷ 0.6 = 70.
  2. Check: 0.6 × 70 = 42.

Answer: 70
