Worked examples

Two examples

Example 1

In your head: 15% of 60 is
  1. 10% of 60 is 6 (move the point one place left).
  2. 5% is half of that, 3. Together: 6 + 3 = 9.

Answer: 9

Example 2

In your head: 1% of 2,400 is
  1. 1% is one hundredth: move the point two places left.

Answer: 24
