Two examples

Example 1

The bill at a restaurant is $46.50. What is a 20% tip?
  1. 20% = 0.2.
  2. 46.50 × 0.2 = 9.30.

Answer: $9.30

Example 2

The bill is $38.00. With a 15% tip, what is the total?
  1. The tip: 38 × 0.15 = 5.70.
  2. The total: $38.00 + $5.70.

Answer: $43.70
