Worked examples

Two examples

Example 1

3.5 hours = ? minutes
  1. 1 hour = 60 minutes. 3.5 × 60 = 210.

Answer: 210 minutes

Example 2

A shift starts at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 4:15 p.m. How long is it?
  1. From 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. is 8 hours.
  2. From 3:45 to 4:15 is 30 more minutes.

Answer: 8 hours 30 minutes
