Two examples

Example 1

A dot plot has 3 dots over 4, 5 dots over 5, and 2 dots over 6. How many values in all?
  1. Each dot is one value: 3 + 5 + 2.

Answer: 10

Example 2

Same plot. What is the mode?
  1. The tallest stack is over 5.

Answer: 5
